The definition of beauty is constantly changing. Where once curvy, full-figured women (like that of Marilyn Monroe) were considered the paragon of femininity, suddenly runway-model-thin was the new standard for attractiveness. More recently, the definition of feminine beauty has changed once more to include strong women—women with a little meat and muscle on their bones. Gone are the days of rail thin arms and legs, as many women now have defined six-pack abs and thick, muscular physiques. In other words, strong is the new skinny.
One of the workouts helping to change the definition of beauty is Crossfit. You know Crossfit – it’s that fitness regime/sport/cult/lifestyle where scantily clad people lift heavy objects over and over again. Whatever your thoughts are about Crossfit, there’s no denying that it’s produced some of the most beautiful women in the world.
To be fair, beauty is subjective. While some prefer women who are strong, women who can handle themselves, for others, the women on this list might be “too muscular” or even “too masculine.” In the wise words of the Dude, Mr. Lebowski: “Yeah well, that’s just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.”
But you don’t care about what I have to say. You’re just here for the pictures. In fact, you’re not even reading this, are you? You’ve already started scrolling down.
10. Jackie Perez
Jackie Perez may not be the most muscular Crossfitter out there, but she could probably still kick your butt. She looks less like a bodybuilder and more like a California beach girl. And that’s exactly what she is. She attended Cal State Hayward, where she played volleyball, and she looks just at home at the beach with a surfboard in her hand as she does in the gym with a barbell over her shoulders.
9. Lauren Fisher
Thanks to a distinctive face and an unruly head of long dark hair, which she whips around while lifting serious amounts of weight, Lauren Fisher is one of the most recognizable faces in the Crossfit world, with nearly half a million Instagram followers. At the tender age of 21, she’s already an accomplished Crossfitter and weightlifter. She was the youngest competitor in the 2014 Games (with an impressive 9th place finish), and she represented USA in Olympic lifting at the Junior Pan Am Championships. And she’s done it all while attending university.
8. Christmas Abbott
Christmas Abbott is a rare combination of cute and tough. Sure she’s got a petite figure and the smile of an innocent angel, but she’s also covered in tattoos, with a particularly menacing picture of a gun going down the side of her well-defined leg (which is visible in her many partially nude photos—she’s not shy). Oh, and she’s also ripped.
In recent years, she’s shifted her attention away from Crossfit and onto Nascar, where she works as a pit crew crember. It’s fair to say that she’s a bit of a tomboy, but one who has retained her feminine beauty.
7. Brooke Ence
With her blonde hair and her bulging biceps, Brooke Ence easily stands out from the crowd. She’s recently become somewhat of a fan favorite. And it’s no surprise. She’s not only beautiful, but she’s also extremely strong. Ence can deadlift 365 lbs and squat 320 lbs. Before getting into Crossfit, she competed in bodybuilding and figure competitions.
6. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet
If you follow Crossfit at all, then it should come as no surprise that Camille Leblanc-Bazinet is on this list. For years, she’s practically been the face of the sport. Not only is she one of the most beautiful women in Crossfit, but she’s also one of the most successful. She is a 6x Crossfit Games competitor, and she came first place overall in the 2014 Games 2014, making her the “Fittest Woman on Earth” until Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir (who’s also on this list) dethroned her in 2015. On top of being an athlete, she’s also quite intelligent, currently working toward a degree in chemical engineering. Beauty and brains.
5. Sara Sigmundsottir
Sara Sigmundsottir is one of the many successful Icelandic Crossfitters. But if you saw her outside of the gym, with her bleach-blonde hair and the face of a model, you might not think that she had it in her to finish third overall at the 2015 Games. But, like many of her fellow female competitors, she’s living proof that just because you’re a beautiful woman it doesn’t mean that you can’t also be strong.
4. Julie Foucher
Like Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Julie Foucher has been one of the faces of Crossfit for several years, finishing second overall in 2012 and third in 2014. 2015 likely marked the last time that she would compete in Crossfit, and did she ever go out with a bang. After suffering an Achilles tendon injury, she competed in events wearing a large protective boot.
Foucher also has admirable aspirations outside of Crossfit, as she is working toward becoming a primary care physician. Her devotion to preventing disease and illness is even more attractive than her physical beauty.
3. Nicole Capurso
With her tanned skin, her blonde hair, and her amazing physique, it’s easy to see why Nicole Capurso might be considered one of the most beautiful women in Crossfit. No stranger to competitive sports, before finding Crossfit, the 5’8 Capurso played division 1 basketball at Hofstra University. She traded in her baggy basketball shorts for skin-tight workout shorts and is now one of the best female Crossfitters in the world, able to deadlift well over 300 lbs. and squat well over 250 lbs.
2. Brooke Wells
Sure she’s strong (she can deadlift 370 lbs), and sure she’s one of the best young stars in Crossfit (just 20 years old), but what makes Brooke Wells so beautiful—and one of the main reasons why she has over 127,000 Instagram followers—is her smile. Even when struggling to hold the weight of a large grown man over her head, she has a sweet smile on her face (how many guys can honestly say that they look attractive when they’re clean and jerking well over 200 lbs?).
1. Katrin Davidsdottir
It’s only fitting that the Fittest Woman on Earth in 2015 also be number one on this list. She’s got it all: strength, speed, and endurance. And she does it all while looking good. While beauty may be subjective, numbers certainly aren’t. The Icelandic Davidsdottir can deadlift over 300 lbs, squat over 250 lbs., snatch over 180 lbs, and clean and jerk over 210 lbs.
