As the year comes to an end it is time to look back on all the celebrity drama 2015 brought us. It seems as though celebrities just couldn’t get their shit together this year. The drama was endless and it was everywhere; Twitter, Instagram, and in magazines and songs, the feuds were countless. However, like everything else, some fights stood out more than others.
There is something about celebrities that intrigues us “normal” people. We love knowing everything about them, including who our favorite celebs are beefing with. With the rise of social media, celebrities have a public outlet to let their emotions out on and their fans seem to always have their backs, which makes for some interesting comments between people online. If you thought your life was dramatic, then clearly you haven’t followed a celebrity on social media!
The following is a list of the top ten celebrity feuds of 2015. These fights took over our lives and our newsfeeds and they all pretty much “broke the Internet.” The next list of superstars got themselves into public drama and as is the case with many arguments, there was a clear winner and loser of each of the following feuds.
So, without further ado, here are the ten best, most entertaining and nastiest feuds of the year.
10. 50 Cent vs Empire
50 Cent claims that the hit television series Empire was a rip off of his Starz series “Power.” Taraji P. Henson, who plays badass Cookie on the show, stated the following: “I pay attention to $ not cents.”
The show then took a public jab at the rapper in an episode where Cookie said “50 Cent still taking jabs at us. Look what he put on the gram…thisty ass.”
Although 50 Cent is a good rapper, Empire won this battle because every week millions of people tune in to watch it – sorry 50, you win some, you lose some.
9. Sean Penn vs Lee Daniels
When accusations of Empire star Terrence Howard beating his wife came out, co-creator of the show Lee Daniels defended his star by saying “he ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some fu***n demon.” Sean Penn then responded in the most Hollywood way possible, by hitting Daniels with a $10 million lawsuit.
Penn, who has not publicly said anything about the situation, has good lawyers who stated the following, “Sean is dismayed at the gratuitous attacks and statements that have been made.” No one was the winner in this case because it is purely an ego trip.
8. Zendaya vs Giuliana Rancic
After Zendaya showed up with dreadlocks on the red carpet at the Academy Awards, Guiliana Rancic, host of the television show Fashion Police, said “the hair to me on her is making her a little more boho. Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed.”
Zendaya was extremely insulted by the comment and went straight to Instagram with her response. “There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curld of their hair…to me, locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion’s mane.”
Zendaya, who was the clear winner of this battle, got Giuliana Rancic to publicly apologize for her statement. Since the incident, Fashion Police has not been doing as well, and we are sure that this situation had something to do with it.
7. Iggy Azalea vs T.I. (and various others)
In sepetember of 2015, rapper T.I. went on Hot 97 and told Ebro, the host of the show, that he was “kind of” done working with his one time protégé, Iggy Azalea. This came after she got into a fight with Azelia Banks. Azalea went to Twitter stating “I am still signed @tip and do business with him. The first I’ve heard of us having an “issue” is via a radio interview.”
The situation was awkward for everyone involved, especially for Azalea. Although Azalea can be kind of annoying, she didn’t deserve to be publicly humiliated by someone she considered a mentor. Not cool, T.I.
6. Nicki Minaj vs Taylor Swift
Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift run in different circles. However, in the world of show business, everyone kind of knows everyone. This feud began when Minaj tweeted “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
Taylor Swift, who was nominated in this category, immediately fired back by tweeting “I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot…”
The two have apparently squashed the beef since then, however it was by far one of the most talked about feuds of the year.
5. Ariana Grande vs America
2015 was the year that security cameras caught Ariana Grande secretly and oddly licking doughnuts. Although the video was bizarre, Grande got extremely defensive and stated “I hate America.”
This obviously did not go over well with the country and people were extremely upset with her comment. Although she came out and apologized for her comment, the situation and how it was handled was just bizarre and in the case of Ariana Grande vs. the people, the people won because, let’s be real, that was just plain weird. However, in Grande’s defense, it must suck having every bizarre thing that you do captured on camera. People are weird, including Ariana Grande.
4. Nicki Minaj vs Miley Cyrus
Oh Nicki got herself in trouble again, this time with Miley Cyrus. Although many think this fight was staged for publicity purposes, it was one of the most talked about feuds of 2015.
The fight began when Miley dismissed Nicki’s comment about being robbed at the VMAs for her video “Anaconda.” Miley stated that the rap goddess made the video all about her and went on to call Minaj a mean person.
Even though the press was all over it, many believe the feud to have been sincere. Minaj is a confrontational person so it comes as no surprise that she wouldn’t back down from a fight.
3. Katy Perry vs Taylor Swift
These two pop stars look like they should be friends, however it seems as though they have never seen eye to eye. In the summer of 2015, Perry made it a point to reignite their feud. Perry gave her opinion on the Minaj/Swift feud and Swift responded with the hit single “Bad Blood.”
Many believe Perry envied Swift’s enormous success, but of course Perry would never admit to that. Although Swift insisted that the song was about an ex-boyfriend, everyone is convinced it is about Ms. Katy Perry. I guess we will never know who the song is really about, but we do know the two are not each other’s biggest fans.
2. Justin Bieber vs Bette Midler
Let’s all be honest here, we all saw the picture of Justin Bieber’s penis and each one of us had something to say about it. However, after Bieber’s father gave the world that confirmation that it wasn’t Photoshopped, everyone including Bette Midler felt a little strange about it.
Midler tweeted a friendly joke about the situation “@justinBieber dad tweeted he’s proud of his son’s penis size. I think the biggest dick in this situation is the dad who abandoned his son.”
Justin replied with the following “This Britt Meddler…I don’t even know who that is, honestly. I wanted to immediately say ‘who is this lady?’ but then I’m just fueling this negativity.”
Bette Midler, who is a living legend, replied in a legendary manner “Britt Meddle! I don’t know who that is either! But Damn that bitch.”
As much as Bieber turned the entire planet into Beliebers, he still lost this feud because come on…who doesn’t know who Bette Midler is…
1. Meek Mill vs Drake
This celebrity feud was by far the most epic of the year! It all began when Meek Mill decided to accuse Drake of not writing his own lyrics. Meek, who is dating Nicki Minaj (Drake’s rumored ex girlfriend), could have been lashing out for personal reasons. However, the feud escalated into a battle of songs.
Drake, who was clearly annoyed by the situation, came out with not one but two songs dissing Meek: “Charged up” and “Back to Back freestyle” which included some extremely personal jabs at Mill.
This battle between these two rappers made people respect Drake and his talent even more, leaving Meek Mill looking a little stupid.
