I’m not going lie, I am one of those shameless Kardashian fans. I tried to deny it at first, but now I have Kim Kardashian’s crying face as my phone cover. I watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians and all of its spin-offs. I follow the family and their love interests on social media. And sadly, I find myself getting invested in their personal lives as if they were my actual friends.
While I am now at a point where I am a truly shameless fan, I still am in on the joke a lot of the time when it comes to the Kardashians and it really seems like they are too. They are the first ones to post memes making fun of themselves and they have no issue posting screen shots of ridiculous headlines about their family. In my opinion, the Kardashians and Jenners seem to be very self aware and have a good gauge on how they are perceived by the public.
That’s why I feel bad when so many people hate on the Kardashians. Don’t get me wrong, they totally have the right to not be a fan of the famous family, but it’s just so annoying hearing the same critiques over and over again. The Kardashians and Jenners have been providing us with so much material over the years, so I just assumed that the insults and hate would have more variety, but they don’t.
There are so many things that us Kardashian and Jenner fans are just tired of hearing. I could go on and on, but for starters, check out this list.
15. They Will Sell Anything
It’s very easy to hate on the Kardashians, Jenners, and even Scott Disick for selling whatever they can on their Instagram, but most of the people who are hating on this are stuck posting on Instagram for free. If you could make money by putting up a photo on Instagram with a custom link, then why wouldn’t you do it? I know I would. Who cares if the family is selling everything from hair vitamins to tooth whiteners to diet tea? With the exception of Kendall Jenner, who is obviously under strict restrictions thanks to her various modeling contracts with what she can and cannot endorse, pretty much the whole family is getting paid to post about products that they may or may not use. They are making more money with one post than most of us pedestrians could ever fathom. Make fun of them all you want, but the Kardashians and Jenners will just laugh their way to the bank.
14. Their Men Are Cursed
There have been a lot of stories about a “Kardashian Kurse” with the men and Scott Disick even went to see a psychic about it during one episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but every single person has problems. Celebrities and the significant others of celebrities live under a microscope. Everything they say and do gets analyzed, scrutinized, and occasionally twisted around. Sure, Lamar Odom has been fighting his demons with sobriety in the public eye, but all of that was going down way before Khloe Kardashian came into his life. People even blame this supposed curse for Rob Kardashian’s weight gain and reclusive nature. Maybe the dude just wanted some privacy? There were some haters that even had the audacity to attribute Bruce Jenner transitioning to become Caitlyn Jenner to some sort of Kardashian jinx. None of these men are cursed. They are just in the spotlight because of the famous family. Simple as that.
13. Their Show Isn’t Real
We all know by now that there are manufactured elements to every single TV show. There is so much footage that needs to be edited together to weave a story together that it has to be edited to make sense to the audience. Not only that, but who cares if the Kardashians discuss things that have happened in their lives out of sequence just so the episodes make sense? Yeah, it might not be totally organic, but it’s not like the family is making up stories about Kylie Jenner getting lip injections, Lamar Odom almost dying at a brothel, and Caitlyn Jenner’s transition. Just because the cameras don’t catch every incident when it initially happens, that doesn’t take away from the show. And if it bothers you, then don’t watch. There are plenty of people who do watch the show and do not care about whatever editing takes place to make it complete.
12. They Are Ungrateful
Everyone hates on the Kardashians and Jenners for growing up with a life of privilege, but is that really fair? It’s not necessarily accurate to assume that these people don’t value money or success just because they have been wealthy for their entire lives. Not only that, but if you follow the Kardashians on social media or if you are committed enough to pay for their personal apps (believe it or not I have not done this), you would know that they are constantly thanking their fans for their support. They interact with their followers very often and they even give them cool stuff from the products they endorse to tickets to Kanye West concerts and Yeezy sneakers. The Kardashians and Jenners work hard for what they have and they know better than anybody that they would not have all that they do if it wasn’t for their team of supporters and their loyal fan base.
11. They Are Not Good Parents
Some sick haters will use anything possible to criticize this family for being bad parents. Just because Kris Jenner is the manager for her children’s careers, it does not necessarily mean that she values money and business deals over her kids. It’s actually kind of mean to assume that she does. Just because she makes money from her childrens’ success, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she doesn’t come through as a parent. Kim and Kourtney get criticized for everything from the outfits that they wear because they don’t “look like moms” to the times when they don’t have clothes on because apparently moms aren’t allowed to get naked. Almost everything these people do gets manipulated and twisted around by the haters as some sort of excuse to say that the Kardashians and Jenners are not good parents. Just because these moms work a lot, look hot, and are seen out on the town, by no means indicates that they aren’t capable of raising their kids.
10. They Are Not Relevant
A lot of people like to discredit the Kardashians and Jenners and say that they are not famous or relevant, but even adamantly hating on the family because you don’t like them makes them relevant. Not to mention that there are just so many people who fall under the umbrella of being Kardashians and Jenners that it makes so much that they are about “relevant.” There are way too many of those people for them to be considered anything but relevant. Plus, pretty much everything they do from forming new relationships, to having babies, to endorsing products, to changing their hair color becomes top news. Not only that, but they have so many products to promote and are constantly making money and getting attention which adds up to relevance to me. Plus, they all have millions of social media followers. If they were “irrelevant” than why would that many people want to “Keep Up With” the family? Plus, there are probably millions of other people who don’t follow the family on social media who check out their accounts on a regular basis.
9. They Are Overly Sexualized
I’m really over so many people who act like being comfortable with your sexuality is a bad thing. If the Kardashian and Jenner family members are comfortable with the way they look in and out of their clothes, than why do people need to tear them down for that? What’s wrong with being sexy and showing that off? If you don’t like it, then don’t look. A big part of the brand that they have built is based on their sex appeal, but at the same time there is so much more to them. Just because these ladies are all sex symbols, that shouldn’t necessarily lead to negative characterizations of them. People just need to stop with the negativity. Who cares if Kim Kardashian posts another nude selfie? Why does it matter if Kylie Jenner’s boobs look bigger in her latest Snapchats. Just let them live and move on with your life.
8. They Are Overexposed
This family is huge. Kris Jenner has six children and if you count Caitlyn Jenner’s kids there are ten total. Now Kim and Kourtney Kardashian are moms and Rob Kardashian is about to be a dad. The sheer volume of this family means that it is very much possible for them to be everywhere. Not only that, but if you count members of the Kardashian inner circle like Kourtney’s ex and baby daddy Scott Disick, Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban, or Khloe Kardashian’s bestie Malika Haqq as a part of the family, then their territory is endless. Pretty much anyone who is involved with this family is considered to be a part of it and that inner circle seems to be constantly growing. So yeah, they are highly exposed, but if you divide up the amount of attention they get by the number of people in the family and closely linked to the family, then it really isn’t too much exposure.
7. They Don’t Work
This is something that I just don’t get. Sure, they might not have a conventional office job, but if there’s one thing these girls are doing it’s working. They have a million businesses, they make a ton of appearances, they do a lot of interviews, they really do have a lot going on. Of course, they don’t run all of this completely on their own, but most business owners don’t do every single thing by themselves. These women are constantly working. They have clothing lines, beauty products, video games, mobile apps, and their reality show. Just because they don’t have “typical jobs,” it doesn’t mean that they are not hard workers. In fact, it seems like work and their personal lives are so intertwined that they really are always working. Everything from a night out at the club to a post on Instagram can potentially overlap into their professional lives.
6. Their Appearance Is Fake
Almost every person male and female does something to change or improve their personal appearance. Whether it’s working out, dieting, putting on makeup, wearing a flattering outfit, or even undergoing a cosmetic procedure, pretty much everyone alters their appearance in some way. Why does it matter if Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian plumped up their lips? What’s the big deal with Kourtney Kardashian getting breast implants? Why are people freaking out just because Kim dyed her hair platinum blonde? Just because they alter appearances, it doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with them. These women have right to do whatever they want with their faces and bodies. Just because all of their assets are not God-given, it doesn’t mean that people need to hate on them. Plus they spend enough money on those lips, boobs, etc. They may not be natural, but they do own them, so whatever.
5. They Are Bad Role Models
I’m not saying that every decision that Kim and the family have made are something that the fans should emulate, but I think that the same could be said for most people, in all honesty. There are very few people who do every single thing right. Nevertheless, there are a lot of positive things that people can learn from fanning out over the Kardashians. First off, they have a great sense of family values. They are all very close and they support each other in public and in private. Minus Khloe Kardashian’s DUI pretty much no one in the family has been involved with any legal drama. They are also great role models if you want to be an entrepreneur. They have started so many trends from emoji apps to celebrity video games and even more when building their empires and Kim Kardashian has even appeared on the cover of Forbes- the ultimate compliment.
4. They Are Stupid
Even if the Kardashians and Jenners are not making all of their financial and creative decisions themselves, they are smart enough to build up a team that can help them reach their goals. There are so many other people on the precipice of fame who tried to become legitimate stars through reality TV, but no one has succeeded as much as this family. Clearly, they were smart enough to do something different. Not to mention, if you watch their show, a lot of them have some pretty clever clap backs and observations. Yes, there are also a lot of dumb and embarrassing quotes that make the episodes, but isn’t that just normal for any person to say something silly every once in a while? These people have become millionaires just by being themselves and selling their lifestyle. If that isn’t intelligent in your eyes, then I imagine that you are pretty tough to please.
3. They’re Always Naked
The Kardashians work hard on their bodies. If you follow them on social media or watch their show, you know that they are always working out. They put so much effort into being in shape- so if they are comfortable enough with their bodies and want to show them off, then I don’t see what’s wrong with that. If it bothers you so much, then just don’t look. Not only that, but it’s not like they actually are naked all of the time, they just happen to get a lot of press and social media attention when they don’t have clothes on. If the women in this family are comfortable in their own skin, then who are we to judge them. There is no reason to be bothered by them feeling alright with their bodies. Plus the criticism is just way too tired and overdone. If you’re going to make fun of the Kardashians and Jenners, then at least come up with something more original.
2. They Have No Talent
Ironically enough, the Kardashians and the Jenners are the first ones to admit that they do not have artistic talent. They are not actors or singers, even though Kim did try her hand at both things (which I try my best to forget ever happened….but anyway). Who cares if they are not famous for conventional reasons. Well, except for Kendall Jenner who is one of the top super models on the planet. But who cares if they can’t sing or act? The Kardashians are talented in unique ways. They are very successful entrepreneurs. They are hilarious on their reality TV show. They have millions of social media followers. Sure, these aren’t unique talents, and it can be argued that none of those things could even be considered as “talents” at all, but even if they aren’t then, it’s actually especially remarkable that they are all so famous if they “have zero talent.”
1. They Are Only Famous For Kim’s Sex Tape
I always laugh when I look at any kind of article that describes the origin of the Kardashian family’s fame as the premier of their reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Yes, that show introduced the entire family to new audiences and allowed them to really become household names, but we all know that we really first heard about Kim Kardashian when her sex tape with Ray J became public. Nevertheless, there were a lot of “barely celebrities” who had sex tapes go public and have nothing to show for it. I do think that the sex tape played a great part in launching the careers of Kim and her family, but it was not solely responsible for all of their success. Not only that, but I feel like it gave them all a great stigma to overcome and probably did more harm than good when it came to legitimizing their celebrity status.
