Selena Gomez is scorching hot in more ways than one. Her career has taken off and her body has never looked better. While reaching towards the future, the 23-year-old starlet must outshine the ghosts of her past.
The first ghost is her association with Disney. The Disney Channel Show, Wizards of Waverly Place, undoubtedly launched her acting career. Disney also facilitated her musical career, owning Hollywood Records, which released her first studio album Stars Dance. Selena's latest musical effort, Revival, with Interscope Records, marks her final break with the legendary Disney machine. She also made an amicable split from her mother, who is no longer her manager.
Of course the second thing haunting miss Gomez is Justin Bieber. They were the perfect little teenybopper couple for 3 long years and the public just won't let it go. Neither of them can shake the past. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, concerning the release of Revival, the Biebs question came up yet again. Selena begrudgingly wished Bieber the best with his career, but then said, "I've deserved this. I earned it. This is all me." She has worked long and hard, since starring in the Barney show when she was 7, and she wants to finally be taken seriously.
Not only has Selena battled the spotlight; she has also battled her health. She was diagnosed with lupus disease, characterized by inflammation and an overactive immune system. As she disappeared from the public eye to endure chemotherapy treatments, tabloids rumored that she was in drug rehab. Instead of lashing out at the false reports, Selena took the high road and ignored them. Now all that pent up anger and frustration is what fuels her. Her lupus is in remission and her health and confidence has grown stronger than ever.

20. Getting Out of a Pool
This beautiful image graced the cover of Style Magazine in 2015 with the title, "The Selena Show: Bye-Bye Bieber -Why Ms. Gomez Is Ready To Take Centre Stage." Jake Bailey, a photographer and make-up artist, who seems to be one of Selena's favorites to work with, took the shot. He has done cover spreads for Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz and Angelina Jolie. He also seems to be a favorite of Perry's who can be seen on his IG page as a platinum blonde, and posing for him with no shirt on.
19. Holding On To A Pole
This one seems like a scene out of a movie or perhaps an incredible dream. Here is Selena in black lingerie, with her hair cut short, lips parted, with a very desirable expression on her face. This shot was taken after recording the Bad Blood video with Taylor Swift. It looks like Selena was still into her badass character and wanted to take a few photos before taking off her slinky outfit. It's uncertain why the stainless steel pole is in the dressing room, but it's very reminiscent of either the vertical brass poles found in gentleman's clubs, or the luggage rack rail on a commuter train.
18. See Through Black Top
Maybe this is one of those fabrics that look totally opaque in a certain light and then a flash bulb goes off and there's no coverage whatsoever. The look on her face is like she doesn't even know she's on full display. She's just casually smiling like it's no big deal. Or maybe she doesn't care and the outfit wasn't a mistake. She has spoken many times about shedding her good-girl image, and wearing see-through clothes in public will do that in a hurry. Way to go, Selena. Let's hope she does this more often.
17. Nothing but a Trench Coat
It's unclear whether Selena is wearing a trench coat, or a dress, or what, but with the high slit and low-cut neckline, it's not covering much of anything. And it seems like there's nothing on underneath. She posted this shot on her IG page and captioned it, "It's fun to look cool sometimes." So by cool she must mean smoking hot. With the sunglasses, dark red lipstick and in-your-face skin, she could almost pass for a Kardashian. The starlet also seems to be carrying a purse. Let's hope there are some pants in there in case she gets cold.
16. Sucking It Down
This picture is beautiful in its simplicity, and the clarity is unreal. You get a real feel for her personality, and the iced coffee and hair curlers reflect the hectic schedule that her life is filled with. The off-the-shoulder white top contrasts beautifully with her perfect skin. And those lips have never looked better. This shot was taken at the studio where she did her Pantene Shampoo photo shoot. Gomez has said in Billboard that she has to be selective, because if her image gets too promiscuous she couldn't represent the wholesome brand for a reported 3 million dollars a year.
15. Ride 'Em Cowgirl
This shot was part of the cover story Gomez did for W Magazine, which declared her, "Hotter Than Ever." The burnt out colors with the waves rolling in the background conjure images of a sunset fantasy. What is that hand doing there on the left side of the frame? Is somebody about to open the door to the beach house and let this oddly dressed hottie come inside? Why not? The lips are more prominent than anything else in the shot, and she seems to be taking the little red jacket off. This is definitely one of Gomez's more artsy shots, and very sexy as well.
14. Wearing Mesh
Selena looks very natural and pretty in this photo, taken again by photographer Jake Bailey. At first glance the dress appears to be merely a close-knit yellow and white checker. But upon closer inspection, especially around the tip of her breast, there is a darkening that reveals that the dress is actually a mesh. Many dudes will be tipping their tablets and iPhones back and forth trying to get the contrast just right on this pic. You can find the image on her Instagram page like many of the pics on this list. Her once rather boring page has been absolutely on fire lately.
13. Bad Blood Bra
This is a great pic that features something Selena usually doesn't care for: support. Often she likes to let the twins hang free and would rather show the loose cleavage in a low cut v-neck, or a braless gown. But in this shot she is going fully strapped push-up. To add to the dominatrix effect she is also holding a rather impressive assault weapon, with fishnet gloves and black nail polish. And the deep tones of black and white give her a film-noir feel that makes her even badder. You've got to wonder how long she was answering to the handle, Arsyn, or if the bold persona ever reappears in bed.
12. On Her Back
This beautiful pic was originally taken for Elle Magazine in 2012. If you ever do any research on the photographic history of Selena Gomez, it's staggering how many pictures you'll find of her lying on her back. It must be one of her favorite positions. In this shot she appears to be sunbathing on a sandy desert floor. Her gorgeous dark hair is flowing all around her, as usual, with the prominent cherry red lips. Her strapless bra seems to be slipping down a bit, but that's okay. She seems to be content lying there a while, so we'll just watch.
11. Spring Breakers Grind
Selena's first big diss to her good girl image was the raunchy and hedonistic 2012 film Spring Breakers. In the movie, Gomez played the most conservative girl in a group of friends led by Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson. Seen here with Rachel Korine, Selena seems to be getting into character and enjoying herself quite a bit in a party scene. Could you imagine being an extra in this film? The guy in the background in the navy blue hat looks like he's having a great time. As did James Franco, the male lead, who did a love scene with both Hudgens and Benson together in a swimming pool.
10. Showing Off With Friends
Here's a candid shot taken by an amateur at a home with Gomez stealing all the attention. You can instantly tell which one has done professional modeling. Selena has said in many interviews that she couldn't handle the stress of show business without the help and support of her friends. She's even mentioned Taylor Swift specifically as someone who has pulled her up when she's feeling down. Gomez captioned the IG post with, "I am so grateful for the people I've met this year but more importantly for the people who have been consistent and by my side through thick and thin…Love you guys!"
9. Hands To Myself
In this promotional photograph for her latest hit single, we get to see Selena from a few different angles at once. She is either getting dressed or more preferably undressed, and staring down her own smoky eyes in her reflection. We also get a nice shot of the starlet's derriere, which is an angle that's surprisingly rare to find. Unlike her solo effort in the Good For You video, Selena invites a playmate for Hands To Myself. The video gets extremely hot as she rolls around in bed with her partner on the black silk sheets.
8. Bikini Selfie
With all of the self-inflicted photography on social media lately, we had to get a Selena selfie on the list. In this shot we can see how hot Gomez looks in a skimpy black bikini. And we can also see just how poor of a photographer she is. Aim the camera up, Selena, up! Let's see here, looks like some nice white bead-board, maybe a paper shredder, and whoa, a super hot chick in the mirror! And when you're cruising through images like these on IG, whatever you do, please don't read the comments. Yes, she's sexy, but the comments describing various states of arousal are very unnecessary.
7. On Her Back Again
Selena looks nice and relaxed in this shot. She also looks quite natural and simple, showing off her true beauty. Many celebrities, like the Kardashians, wear so much heavy make-up that you can't even recognize them without it. Or they'll post a shot titled as "make-up free" on their social media page, like its some kind of big deal. Like it was such a risk for them to appear so vulnerable. Gomez doesn't fit that mold and often prefers to uncomplicated things. Including the omission of needless undergarments. This shot was part of her cover story for the January 2016 issue of InStyle Magazine UK.
6. Price Of Fame
It surely is the information age. We have the power to research annals of knowledge, send messages, map locations, and take photos all literally in the power of our fingertips. Being a celebrity is easy. You get super rich for doing what you love, be it singing acting, dancing or whatever. But there is a consequence to all that easy money. You can't go outside without a hundred fools pointing their camera at you, and this photo illustrates that fact perfectly. Gomez captioned this IG shot with, "iPhone game strong." And staying stronger than that game surely isn't easy.

Gomez is very proud of this shot and she should be, it's perfect. She displays the black and white image as her profile pic on her Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. It's the perfect shot to embody the album's name, Revival. Here she is in her birthday suit, reborn, after parting ways from Disney, Bieber and her good girl image. She has overcome a major health scare, been panned by critics, and dragged through the tabloid mud. But she perseveres and looks great doing it. This album marks a new chapter in the pop star's career, and soon the prior details will be ancient history.

There's always another side to that girl you like. The good ones won't let themselves be pigeonholed. You might think that she only likes rap, and then she's bumping country. Or maybe you thought she was a vegetarian until she orders a prime rib. With Gomez, she seems graceful and natural, like an artist or a ballerina, but here she is getting sporty, ready to shoot hoops on the street. And she looks awesome doing it. Adidas Neo is actually Gomez's new fashion line. Selena is a seasoned pro in the fashion field and started her first line at Kmart in 2009.
3. Shower Time
Here's another great shot of Selena looking simply gorgeous. The lighting is fantastic and clearly displays every curve on the small of her back, and the three quarter profile is perfect. Mario Testino, a seasoned pro in the celebrity photo business, took the shot. He also shot a cover spread for V Magazine, featuring Britney Spears in a similarly sexy barely-there outfit. Gomez graced the cover of V in 2015 with very curly hair, an oddly childish look on her face, and no top on. The issue also featured her in an interview done by Spring Breakers co-star James Franco.
2. The Hot Neighbor
Selena stars in the outrageous comedy sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, which opens in theaters this May. After acting in Spring Breakers, the corrupt college kid role will be a cinch for Gomez, who also knows how to look hot in a bikini. A more challenging role will certainly be in the film In Dubious Battle, based on the 1936 John Steinbeck political novel. In the movie, produced, directed and starring James Franco, Selena does a scene where she gives birth. Talk about dramatic. The film is due out TBD in 2016. It's yet another Franco connection, with James' bro, Dave in Neighbors 2.
1. Plain Beauty
Holy cow, this girl has got it going on. Did something get bigger all of the sudden? It must be the camera angle or maybe the wind is blowing in just the right direction. This is another sultry shot from the January issue of InStyle Magazine UK. In the series of photographs, by Jeff Hahn, Selena is shown doing everyday kind of stuff in an average, humble setting. She sits on the edge of her bed, or leans against the railing of an apartment building balcony. Even in this shot she looks like she's just heading out in her ponytail, wearing an attractive yet plain and inexpensive outfit.
