10 Embarrassing Celebrity Movie Scene Confessions

It’s hard to imagine celebrities being anything less than flawless, and even harder to image they’d have an embarrassing moment to share about what goes on in the bedroom. Well, maybe not their actual bedroom but the bedroom of some of the characters actors and actresses play. While many of them have described filming sex scenes as not in the least bit sexual and incredibly technical, just a bit of “move your hand here and leave your head there,” not all of them seem to agree. In many cases, whether it was their costar, the situation, flubbing their lines, or even their own body image that day, these stars ended up on the emotional side of the sex scene equation.

In fact, looking at the ten instances below, it seems like maybe many Hollywood stars have had an on-screen experience that was perhaps more than they ever expected.  And who knows, maybe that translated into a little extra “oomph” up on the big screen for all of us viewers.

Actors and actresses alike are confessing that they’ve gotten flustered, and sweaty, and dare I say it…aroused! And while most of us would kill to take the place of many of these actors for the chance to swap spit with the man or woman of our dreams, some of these embarrassing moments they’ve shared might just change your mind as they make it clear that getting turned on by a costar is the least of their problems.

10. Ryan Reynolds Removes Olivia Wilde’s Pasties

While filming The Change-Up, Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde have a potentially steamy scene where they’re both on the couch and he takes off her shirt and bra. On an appearance on The Tonight Show, he told Jay Leno that Wilde had worn little pasties over her breasts and drew smiley faces on them to lighten the mood. Reynolds explains that he “forget[s] every line in the scene – not just from this movie but from every other movie I’ve done.” To make matters worse, his nerves caused his palms to sweat, and the scene calls for Wilde to take Reynolds hands and place them on her chest, encouraging him to feel her up.

Unfortunately, the sweat from his palms caused her pasties to slide off while filming this scene, and the way he describes it is just hilarious. “I take my hands away and I look down at my hands and there’s two frickin’ smiley faces on them and I have no idea what to do. And I reflexively, like an idiot, just put my hands right back on her breasts!”

9. Anne Hathaway Takes It All Off…For No Reason

In Love and Other Drugs, the incredibly sexy Anne Hathaway bares it all in some steamy sex scenes with costar Jake Gyllenhaal. In one particular scene, Hathaway shows up at Gyllenhaal’s apartment in a trench coat, and nothing else. When doing an interview with Hollywood Life, she describes the scene and describes her most embarrassing moment. “I thought we were filming, but it turned out we were just rehearsing and I got unnecessarily naked in front of a lot of people!” Likely mortified, I’m sure the crew and her costars didn’t mind!

8. Christopher Mintz-Plasse Does It In Front Of His Mom

Christopher Mintz-Plasse, best known for his role as McLovin in Superbad, was only seventeen when the movie was being filmed, making him underage according to the law. If you’re one of the few who haven’t seen this hilarious film, in the scene his character loses his virginity to a sexy redhead in an upstairs bedroom at a high school party. Turns out, his mom was watching the entire thing. Christopher described his humiliation in an interview with GQ. “I was just sitting there with my boxers on, waiting for my mom to drive down to the set. She got there, and I had to fake sexual intercourse in front of her.” Wow…awkward!

7. Jesse Metcalfe Gets Excited

Jesse Metcalfe is best known for his role in Desperate Housewives, where he plays the young and barely legal gardener that has a fling with a character played by the sultry Eva Longoria. Apparently Metcalfe got a bit too excited while rehearsing one of the first scenes he shot for the show, and told his embarrassing story about it on a Sacramento radio station. “In the first scene we ever had, where Gabriela and John first had sex, we were rehearsing and then the director was like, ‘OK, get out of bed, we have to reset the set’, and I was like, ‘I need a minute.’” I’m sure you guys can relate!

6. Lizzy Caplan Gets Wasted

Best known for being the queen of sarcasm as Janis Ian in Mean Girls, Lizzy Caplan also had a role in True Blood as a fangbanger who became Jason Stackhouse’s girlfriend in Season One. Before filming their first sex scene, Caplan admitted on the Chelsea Lately show to getting pretty wasted saying, “It was like 7 in the morning and I was chugging vodka completely naked while a makeup artist I had just met was on her knees in front of me sponging my ass.”

But wait, that’s not even the embarrassing part. She goes on to explain that, “I was so drunk, that after I shot the scene I was going up to the crew members. I had just met all these people the day before and I was going up to them like, ‘You got a boner! You do! You’ve got one!’” If you’ve ever seen the show, it’s likely they all did.

5. Dave Franco Gets A Zit

When filming Neighbors, Dave Franco was preparing for his first sex scene, one where he would be showing his butt on camera. Nervous enough to have to film the scene, he woke up that morning with a zit in the worst possible location. “I woke up that morning and I had a giant pimple on my ass. I had to go to the makeup artist who I had also met that week and be like, ‘Can we go in the other room and you’ll put makeup literally on my ass?’” Franco also admitted on Chelsea Lately that he forgot his costar’s name while filming the scene, and I almost feel bad for him. But not quite.

4. Robert Pattinson Gets Julianne Moore All Wet

Robert Pattinson has admitted to a bit of a sweating problem, but things got a bit embarrassing for him while filming his new film, Map of the Stars. During a sex scene with costar Julianne Moore, he was sweating so bad that his warm drops were trickling onto her back. Pattinson told Heart Magazine, “It was the first time I’d met Julianne as well. It was so hot in Toronto and she’s one of these people – she doesn’t sweat at all! But I sweat like a f***ing crazy person. I was trying to literally catch drops of sweat to stop them hitting her back.” He made such an impression, that Moore asked him if he was having a panic attack in between takes. Talk about awkward…

3. HBO’s Girls Does Butt Play

If you’ve seen HBO’s Girls, then you know they’ve pushed the boundaries on awkward sex scenes further than any other show. One particular episode, actress Allison Williams’ character Marnie is to portray the act of her butt…well, let’s just say being attended to. In an interview, Williams explains how she immediately went into action, brainstorming with the show’s wardrobe team on how to make this scene a bit more comfortable. She explains, “I grabbed the makeup girl and said, ‘I want to smell like a cake,’ so we put vanilla cream everywhere so everything smells good. And then I’m like, ‘Grace [in wardrobe], we’re going to rig something invisible from the side but that feels like a pillow when he puts his face into it.” The contraption they came up with was “…so elaborate — it involved Spanx that we cut away and glued down and involved menstrual pads and two of those weird thongs.” Poor guy had a face full of vanilla icing and menstrual pads and didn’t even get any.

2. Henry Cavill Gets “Excited”

While filming for his breakout role in Showtime’s The Tudors, Henry Cavill may have gotten a bit too excited during one particular sex scene. This sexy Man of Steel actor described this moment in Men’s Fitness as a one-time occurrence that was very embarrassing. “A girl had to be on top of me, she had spectacular breasts, and I hadn’t rearranged my — stuff into a harmless position. She’s basically rubbing herself all over me and, um, it got a bit hard.” Even though Cavill apologized profusely, he came down a bit hard on himself during his interview going on to say, “It’s not great when you’re in a professional acting environment and somebody gets a b**er, is it? No, not acceptable.” I’m sure he wasn’t the only one to appreciate the actress’ spectacular breasts.

1. Emilia Clarke Gets The Giggles

If you haven’t finished the first season of Game of Thrones yet, well then you better stop reading now. Spoiler Alert! Emilia Clarke who plays the incredibly sexy “Mother of Dragons” films a rape scene with actor Jason Momoa. Jason plays her Dothraki husband who her brother forced her to wed, which they consummate in a not-so-pleasant scene on their wedding night. However, it seems Jason went out of his way to keep the situation light during filming. On The Graham Norton Show, Clarke revealed that instead of wearing a modesty sock to cover his, umm…man parts…he wore a pink fluffy sock instead. And what did Clarke have to say about it? “It’s huge, and it’s pink, and I don’t know what to do,” she said while giggling at the memory. Huge, huh?
